Dear Sir,
It's official - the Great Divide between
city and country really does exist. Weekend
Australian 8-9 January has Acting PM John Anderson
astride his rock with his satellite phone.
The accompanying caption in the city edition
informatively advises us the handset cost
approximately $3800, activation fee $200, plus $40
per month.
The country edition waffles about a Country Wide
Pack cost $200 plus $40 per month. Perhaps JA's
minders thought we might be shocked that our
National Party leader is advocating spending $4000
to make up for losing our mobile telephony
lifeline, i.e. analogue service in the bush.
We are shocked and deeply hurt by your apparent
apathy, Mr Acting PM.
Sincerely,
JOHN and CAROL RICHARD
