APUMP asks the Australian Communications Authority about its inquiry into CDMA coverage

Hello Roslyn,

I have read the media release at http://www.aca.gov.au/media/2000/03-00.htm

Would you kindly let us know:

* the precise terms of reference of your inquiry

* how you define the words "reasonably equivalent", particularly having regard to the Press Release issued by the Deputy Prime Minister on 9th July 1998 which said 'every area of Australia which currently receives mobile phone coverage from the Telstra analogue network will continue to receive the same coverage when the network is upgraded'

* the methodology you propose to use

* where we can find a copy of Telstra's license conditions

* what gave rise to your inquiry, e.g. an instruction from the Minister or the ACA's own initiative or something else

Many thanks,

Boyd Munro
President, APUMP (Association for the Protection of Users of Mobile Phones)
