Fax from Senator Bill Heffernan to APUMP member.

Dear XXX,

Thank you for your facsimiles dated 18 January, 23 January and 8 February 2000 regarding your ongoing problems with the CDMA service in your area.

I have forwarded copies of your letters to Senator Hon Richard Alston, Federal Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts and requested Ins response addressing your concerns regarding the government's legal obligation to the carriers to cease the analogue service and operate only the CDMA service.

I have also contacted the Minister's office, and was assured your concerns are being investigated and a response will be forwarded to you shortly.

Furthermore, in relation to your claims the base station at XXXX had been closed, the Minister's office advised CDMA coverage from the base station was provided on 3 December 1999 and the AMPS transmitter is still operational.

I trust that this matter will be resolved to you satisfaction in the near future

Yours Sincerely

Bill Heffernan
